The Pines started the 2012 season (eventually!) in style by scoring some big numbers & coming out victorious against an always improving GE Healthcare side.

Get the diary out! DRAFT 2012 fixtures are now available to download on the Fixtures/Results page. Still awaiting confirmation for many of the details of games, but this will give you a rough idea of what’s happening when and where.

2012 Membership Fees

Please be advised that full membership of Rhiwbina Pines CC will cost each player £40 this season. The club has kept the price the same as last season. All regular players, or players hoping to play regularly are advised to pay membership fees to John Davies (treasurer) as soon as possible. RPCC’s main expenditure is pitch fees which are collected in May.

If you have not paid membership for the year, then the club operates a ‘pay and play’ policy of £5 per game.

In other news…we will be using pink balls in all Willow competitions this season! (they’re not cheap either…)

Nets!

Pre-season nets will take place on the following dates and times at the National Cricket Centre, SWALEC Stadium:

Tuesday 27th March – 8:30-9:30pm

Tuesday 3rd April – 8:00-9:00pm

Tuesday 10th April – 8:00-9:00pm

Tuesday 17th April – 8:00-9:00pm

Cost will be £3-5 per player for each session, depending on numbers (payable on the night).

First match of the season will be:

Tuesday 24th April (6pm) v Barry CC (Friendly) at Barry Island

We’re currently awaiting confirmation of our league and cup fixtures for this season. These should be available soon. For now, a reminder of the nets dates and times, and a few scheduled friendly fixtures can be seen on our Fixtures/Results page.

If you’re finding that, after a winter of inactivity, your whites don’t quite feel as comfortable as they once did; or that you exerted yourself so much in the field last season that they’re thread-bare – then never fear…the new Club Shop is here!

Have a look in the right hand column for a sneak preview of the new Pines kit – and visit the shop for the full range of match, training, and leisure wear. Order your gear whenever you want, get as much as you like – but make sure you order the correct size, as once that ~~conservative party~~ Rhiwbina Pines CC logo has been sewn on, there’s no refunds. However, I’m sure we can arrange a spot of bring & buy if you really get landed with unsuitable attire.

In this Olympic year, will the Mighty Pines find a spot on the Willow League medal rostrum? Will the spirit of the games win the day at Bradford-on-Avon? Will the hamstrings hold out? One thing’s for sure…we won’t be playing at Llanrumney – and that IS because of the Olympics! Well, those archers need somewhere to practice before they hit Lord’s I suppose…

Thanks to those of you who have made yourselves available to play this week. A special thanks to the Pines who will (hopefully, weather-permitting!) play a marathon 3 games in 3 days! The first of those games (before the tour kicks in) is on Thursday this week, and the team for that encounter is as follows (please note the venue – directions below).

Please be at Llandaff Fields in good time for a 6pm start.

Llandaff Fields is the grassy expanse situated between Cathedral Road (to the south) and the A48 (to the north). The best place to park is at the top of Cathedral Road, just as it bends round to the left into Pen-Hill Road. There’s a small car park there that cuts into the field itself. From there, walk in the direction of the rest of the grass until you see us.
